Volunteer Opportunities
HLC Dartford relies on volunteers to staff our community projects. The funding that we receive is used to support, maintain and increase the number quality volunteer placements we have available, which include.
Community Café
The community café is staffed from 9.30am to 2.30pm weekdays by our volunteers.
All our volunteers are given appropriate training courses in food hygiene and health and safety. info@hlcdartford.co.uk
Activity & Recreation Events
We are involved with a number of activity and event days in locations around Dartford such as Enchanted Woodland in Temple Hill, Tree Estate community centre and Central Park in the centre of town. Recent events such as the Dartford Park Festival, Mela in asociation with the Grand at Gravesend and the Tree Estate Community event gives insight into our commitment and interdevelopment with various organisations and bodies supporting the community.
Computer Suite
The computer suite has a number of active volunteer tutors and course leaders, delivering courses on basic computer skills, Microsoft packages, how to effectively use the internet and other general computer skills.
Cedar Road Allotments
We have a 6-plot allotment on Cedar Road, Tree Estate, that is being transformed into a community gardening space. The first phase of clearing out has already been completed the focus now on retaining the support network and the continual upkeep of the plot delivering ripe and healthy produce for all.
We have a 12-seater minibus in order to provide a pick-up and drop-off service for our activities where people have mobility problems, physical or mental disabilities.
This service will be expanding in the near future and will also be used for Don’t Sit Get Fit groups, family weight management and other community social outings.
